HEMEROCALLIS Going Bananas
$9.99 – $14.99
Hemerocallis ‘Going Bananas’ Common Name: Daylily
Product Description
An improved ‘Happy Returns’ with larger flowers and nearly continuous bloom. ‘Going Bananas’ starts to bloom about 1-2 weeks later in early summer, but it blooms nearly continuously into early fall, unlike ‘Happy Returns’ which often stops flowering in August. The 4“, fragrant, canary yellow flowers have recurved, overlapping petals and slightly ruffled margins. They open fully and symmetrically just above the semi-evergreen foliage. The plants display excellent 3-way branching, producing 10-15 well-spaced flowers per scape. Diploid.
Daylilies can survive many harsh conditions that other plants cannot including: polluted city environments, slopes, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in winter, and under Black Walnut trees (not affected by juglone).
‘Going Bananas’ has been selected by gardening expert P. Allen Smith for his Platinum Collection. Here’s what P. Allen has to say about this fabulous plant:
“The soft yellow blooms blend well with other plants in my flower borders, but the best thrill of all is its constant bloom. Mine have flowered until the end of November, long after other daylilies have taken their final bow and stepped off the ‘stage’.”
